Lighting design calculation

Calculations that ensure proper lighting.

Lighting design – professional, harmonious, and tailored to your needs.

Lighting is one of the key factors for the well-being and functionality of any space. However, it is not enough for it to be pleasing to the eye – it must be consistent with the purpose of the space, while also meeting technical and regulatory requirements.

At LUMENIA, we take care of all this for you. Our lighting experts provide a personalized lighting design calculation, which forms the basis for effective and harmonious lighting.

Why is a lighting design calculation necessary?

Light affects well-being, safety, and luminous efficacy (lm/W). But good lighting does not happen by chance—it requires planning. That is why a lighting design calculation is the key to the right solution.

Lighting optimization

Providing appropriate lighting according to the needs of the space.

Reducing costs

Preventing unnecessary costs due to incorrect selection or placement of luminaires.

Improving comfort and safety

Creating a pleasant and safe environment for users of the space.

What does lighting design
calculation actually mean?

Do you manage an industrial or logistics facility?

Too many luminaires = excessive costs. Too few = safety risk. Our calculations reduce the number of luminaires to the optimal minimum without compromising safety or efficiency.

Are you renovating a school, sports hall, or municipal building?

The calculation for the renovation of a school, sports hall, or municipal building ensures the correct level of lighting according to the purpose of the space and applicable standards. The calculation determines the number, placement, and type of luminaires, which reduces costs, increases luminous efficacy (lm/W), and facilitates implementation.

Do you manage outdoor lighting (park, road, parking lot)?

Every lumen of light counts here. Too many luminaires disturb the surroundings and increase costs, while too few luminaires pose a safety risk. Our lighting calculation provides you with the precise placement and orientation of luminaires in accordance with regulations.

Do you have an office?

Without proper lighting, employees will be exposed to fatigue, poor concentration, and the risk of more mistakes. With the calculation and the right choice of luminaires, we can guarantee optimal illuminance (lx) of work surfaces, without glare (UGR) or shadows.

What does a
lighting design calculation include?

What does alighting design calculation include?

In lighting design calculation, we take into account the purpose of the space and, by selecting the appropriate luminaires, we provide a solution that combines energy requirements and aesthetics.

Implementation in accordance with lighting standards

In our calculations, we take into account European and international standards, indoor lighting and outdoor lighting, with an emphasis on the appropriate level of illumination, uniformity (U0, U1) and visual comfort in relation to the function of the space.

Simulations and reports

Using modern tools, we prepare computer simulations, light diagrams, LDT files, and all documentation necessary for implementation or tender submission.

Consulting

Based on the calculation, we advise you on the selection of appropriate luminaires – we can also develop a customized solution if the project requires it.

01
Analysis of space and requirements

We collect data about the building (floor plans, purpose of rooms, heights, materials, desired lighting levels) and take into account regulations (SDR, EN standards, regulations).

02
Selection of luminaires or definition of conditions

Based on the requirements, we determine the appropriate type of luminaires (or use existing ones) and lighting characteristics (flow, angle, UGR, correlated color temperature, etc.).

03
Performing calculations

We prepare a lighting simulation using specialized Dialux software. The calculation includes values for illuminance (lx), uniformity (U0, U1), UGR, temperature, etc.

04
Preparation of the report

We summarize the results in a technical report with floor plans, 3D displays, light diagrams, tables, and recommendations. We also add LDT files and luminaire documentation.
